Help me Bring Photography to Children in Need

Ok People, this is not Palin-related. but I need your help.

Lenovo and Microsoft are putting on a photography contest called 'Name your Dream Assignment" wherein the winner gets $50K to implement their dream photo assignment. Here is mine. Please take a moment to vote for me if you like my idea. If you really like it, please copy/paste this post into an email and tell your friends to vote & pass it on!:

I will set up a nonprofit to bring photography to needy children across the globe in attempt to capture our world through their eyes. As I travel, I will seek to capture the essence of their cultures, people, and landscapes.

My dream assignment is directly inspired by the movie, Born Into Brothels and founder of Kids with Cameras, Zana Briski.

I would like to either set up my own nonprofit like Kids with Cameras, or work in conjunction with Kids with Cameras to travel the globe and work with children in need, giving them cameras and showing them the importance of their perspective on life. I would myself be photographing select children from around the globe that participate in the program, their families, cultures, communities. I will seek to capture the essence of their cultures, people, and landscapes.

This just in: Alaska Legislative Investigative Report on Sarah Palin Released

Walt Monegan has been vindicated. Gov. Sarah Palin is found guilty of abusing her power in office (10 republicans 4 dems on the panel, so no partisan excuses here!)

The entire report can be found here . The report is 263 pages, which I am going to read through. But here is a taste of the findings: (CLICK TO ENLARGE)

Where have I been, you ask?

Let's get a little history on this weblog for a moment.

This weblog began the minute after I listened  to Sarah Palin give her stump speech at the RNC Convention. Prior to that moment, I had never been one to be that interested in politics. My sister-in-law was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention and her fervor for Obama almost pushed me away from him and politics. I hate to admit that now, but at the time it was true. I watched the Democratic National Convention on TV, really with the intention of just trying to find my sister-in-law in the crowd and text her that I saw her. But I found myself captivated, not only by Barack Obama - but by the hope and belief that he instilled in his supporters. I found myself wiping tears off of my face because he stirred up in me something that I didn't know was there. He made me care.

Fast forward a day to the announcement of Sarah Palin as the Republican VP nominee. The "strategy" of the GOP stunk like a rotting corpse. It was a slap in the face of all smart & accomplished women (yes, that includes mothers). I was MAD. STEAMING mad. Not only did this unknown steal the thunder of the DNC, this woman had no substance.

The next morning, I texted my dad "Can you even believe it!" and to my dismay his response was "She is hot!" ....

Oh no he didn't just say that.

I texted "You won't seriously vote for her because you think she is HOT will you!"

He says "she is captivating, and so what if she doesn't know anything."

The conversation continues this way for about an hour, and thus this website was born.

I am convinced that the Republican ticket of Palin and McCain rely on lazy voters that just watch snippets of Fox news and don't take the time to investigate all sides of a story. I decide it is therefore my duty to easily separate the fact from fiction.

You will notice I haven't been online for a while. Probably right around the time she started doing her interviews with Charlie Gibson, Katie Couric, (sorry Hannity doesn't count because he is simply psychotic). I guess at that time, I figured the woman spoke for herself.

And she did! Nothing that comes out of this woman's mouth makes any sense. Over the next few days I will dissect her transcripts on this site.

I want people to see what I mean about Sarah Palin not knowing where to verbally punctuate in order to separate her thoughts from one another. You will see, if the transcripts are done properly, that the woman can hardly finish A thought, let along a sentence that doesn't trail off into that deep abyss that floats between her ears.

Stay tuned.

Come Back Sarah!

We scared her away. Palin must have found out we were going to pay her a visit when she was scheduled to come visit Seattle.... one of these days, lady.. Now she's headed to the extreme opposite corner of the country for some U.N. event.

From an email I received - There's ANOTHER Bridge - Going Somewhere and Costing $600 MILL!

Palin supports $600 million 'other' bridge project

> ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) - Gov. Sarah Palin may eventually have said
> "no thanks" to a federally funded Bridge to Nowhere.
>
> But a bridge to her hometown of Wasilla, that's a different story.
>
> A $600 million bridge and highway project to link Alaska's largest
> city to Palin's town of 7,000 residents is moving full speed ahead,
> despite concerns the bridge could worsen some commuting and
> threaten a population of beluga whales.
>
> Local officials already have spent $42 million on plans to route
> traffic across the Knik Arm inlet, a narrow finger of water
> extending roughly 25 miles northeast of Anchorage toward Wasilla.
> The proposal exists thanks to an earmark request by Republican Rep.
> Don Young, whose son-in-law has a small stake in property near the
> bridge's proposed western span.
>
> A Democratic council member in Anchorage will try Tuesday to spike
> the city's sponsorship of the project, which Palin supports with
> some reservations.
>
> "This is basically an incredibly expensive project that doesn't
> help commuters, doesn't help create jobs and may drive whales to
> extinction," said Justin Massey, an attorney advising
> environmentalists opposed to the proposal. "It is also a project
> that serves the area where the governor is from, which is near and
> dear to her heart."
>
> The Knik Arm was one of two bridge proposals in Alaska awarded more
> than $450 million from lawmakers who requested money for special
> projects in 2005, when Young chaired the House Transportation
> Committee. Young, Alaska's 18-term congressman, has said Alaska
> still lacks basic roads, railroads and bridges that were developed
> long ago in older and less spacious states.
>
> At the time, Palin's running mate for the Republican ticket,
> Arizona Sen. John McCain, derided both projects as wasteful. He
> called Young's highway bill a "monstrosity" that was "terrifying in
> its fiscal consequences."
>
> "I want no part of this," McCain said in a July 2005 statement.
> "This legislation is not - I emphasize not - my way of legislating."
>
> The governor initially championed the first so-called Bridge to
> Nowhere, which would have connected the southeastern Alaska town of
> Ketchikan to its airport on nearby Gravina Island. She later pulled
> the plug on the project after it became a national symbol of
> extravagant federal spending.
>
> Palin's record on the Bridge to Nowhere has emerged as a central
> point of controversy in the campaign over her recent public claims
> that she had opposed it, aligning herself with McCain's anti-
> earmarks philosophy.
>
> Palin still supports the second bridge, officially named Don
> Young's Way in honor of the congressman. She called for a review of
> the bridge's financing plans and raised concerns about its
> financial risks for the state. Still, the planning process is
> marching forward.
>
> "Governor Palin's demand for accountability and transparency around
> this project is exactly what she has called for across the board to
> ensure taxpayers' dollars are being used wisely," spokeswoman Maria
> Comella said.
>
> Dianne Keller, who succeeded Palin as mayor in Wasilla, has said
> the new $600 million crossing could lower traffic congestion in the

> The average commuter trip to work for Wasilla residents is 34

> land across from Anchorage on the inlet's western side.
>
> The National Marine Fisheries Service is evaluating whether the
> isolated beluga whales that breed and feed in the waterway's strong

> Cook Inlet beluga whales as endangered.
>
> Anchorage Assembly members Patrick Flynn and Matt Claman, both
> Democrats, plan to introduce a proposal to kill the bridge on
> Tuesday. They argue the money would be better used to set up
> commuter van pools and fix Alaska's existing highways, some of
> which are so rutted that cars go skidding off the road.
>
> "She clearly hasn't said 'no thanks' to this particular bridge,"
> Claman said. "If money were not an issue and we had no limits,

Is She Going to Get Away With It?

I will be truly frightened if Sarah Palin gets off the hook of her investigation. This is like some Scooter-Libby craziness. Can this be real? :

CNN Reports:http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/09/16/palin.investigation/

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) -- Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin will not cooperate with a "tainted" legislative investigation into the firing of her public safety commissioner, the McCain-Palin campaign announced Monday, accusing supporters of Democratic rival Barack Obama of manipulating the probe for political motivations.

Gov. Sarah Palin is fighting allegations she improperly tried to force the firing of her former brother-in-law.

Gov. Sarah Palin is fighting allegations she improperly tried to force the firing of her former brother-in-law.

Former Palin Press Secretary Meg Stapleton told reporters in Anchorage that the power probe has been "hijacked" by "Obama operatives" for the Democratic presidential nominee -- namely, Alaska state Sen. Hollis French, the Democratic lawmaker managing the investigation and an Obama supporter. Hollis has denied working on behalf of the Obama campaign.

The Obama campaign described Stapleton's charge as "complete paranoia." It has denied sending campaign staff to Alaska to work with the legislative committee's investigation.

McCain campaign spokesman Ed O'Callaghan said, "I think it's fair to say that the governor is not going to cooperate with that investigation so long as it remained tainted and run by partisan individuals who have a predetermined conclusion," referring to a comment by French this month that the case could produce criminal charges or an "October Surprise" for the GOP ticket.

From a Blog in Tel Aviv - What's Truly Frightening about Sarah Palin

Bradley Burston on Sarah Palin:

There is the answer that is truly frightening. It lets us know that the nation may be in danger of electing another leader bearing the most profound of George Bush's shortcomings: blindness to one's own shortcomings.

Palin's Earmarks at $453 million

From the Wall Street Journal:http://online.wsj.com/article/SB122143893857134389.html?mod=special_page_campaign2008_mostpop

Last week, Republican presidential candidate Sen. John McCain said his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, hadn't sought earmarks or special-interest spending from Congress, presenting her as a fiscal conservative. But state records show Gov. Palin has asked U.S. taxpayers to fund $453 million in specific Alaska projects over the past two years.

These projects include more than $130 million in federal funds that would benefit Alaska's fishing industry and an additional $9 million to help Alaska oil companies. She also has sought $4.5 million to upgrade an airport on a Bering Sea island that has a year-round population of less than 100.

Alaska Women Reject Sarah Palin Rally in Anchorage

A group in Alaska (Alaska Women Reject Sarah Palin) rallied together this Saturday. This is the protest I'm hoping for - NO MORE LIES.
